Hot on the heels of PokerStars releasing their test version of the fast-paced poker format first made popular by Full Tilt , other "huge brands" are set to launch a similar product soon, PokerUpdate can reveal.
A source close to iGame, the company that owns the poker brand 24hrPoker on the IGT/Entraction network, confirmed that it is set to launch the fast-paced poker game under its own brands with the same product being licensed to at least two other big name poker rooms.
PokerUpdate understands that the new format's player liquidity will be shared between partner sites, but the player pools will be completely seperate from those of the rest of the IGT/Entraction network.
A flash version of the game will be offered on iGame.com without requiring a download, whereas it will be integrated into the download client of other sites, including 24hrPoker.
Our source expects the new iGame product to be very strong from launch and that it will be heavily marketed by the two unnamed "huge brand" sites keen to adopt the innovation.
Full Tilt were first to market with the concept, offering Rush Poker, which allowed a player to immediately move on to a new hand with new players upon folding. Players were able to play 4 times as many hands per hour per table. The format's popularity sky-rocketed before it dissapeared along with Full Tilt.
The InstaDeal network were first to challenge Full Tilt's patent-pending status, launching its Terminal Poker product in late 2010. The product was the initiative of Per Hildebrand, founder of the Entraction network, who considers the product "unpatentable".
As well as the format being an exciting twist on the game for new users, it is attractive to investors by virtue of its ability to function well with relatively small player pools: just 20-30 players per pool allow for gameplay that moves much faster than a normal online poker table.
