Bad Beat

Als Bad Beat wird der Verlust einer Pokerhand bezeichnet, in der ein Blatt zu einem Zeitpunkt hoher Favorit gegenüber einem gegnerischen Blatt war, dann aber doch noch von diesem eingeholt und geschlagen wurde. Wo die Grenze zwischen einem regulär oder nur unglücklich verlorenen Spiel und einem Bad Beat gezogen wird, ist von Spieler zu Spieler verschieden. Häufig jedoch sagt man, dass ein Bad Beat dann vorliegt, wenn die Karten eines Spieler durch ein gegnerisches Blatt geschlagen werden, das nur eine Chance von 5-10% auf den Sieg hatte und z.B. eine oder zwei perfekte Karten treffen musste.Ein Bad Beat ist beispielsweise folgende Texas Hold'em Hand:

Spieler A hält am Flop eine fertige Straße, Spieler B nur ein Paar Neunen, doch am River gewinnt Spieler B noch mit einem Full House Dreien über Neunen. Die Chancen, dass Spieler B die Hand noch gewinnt, liegen am Flop bei gerade einmal 7,8 Prozent.
